New cabinet took oath

The new members of the council of ministers led by Tshering Tobgay have taken the oath of office (Bhutan call is as received Dakyan from His Majesty the Druk Gyalpo).

The oath ceremony was organised two days after the interim government completed its 90 day term in office.

The ceremony took place at 10 in the morning in the throne room at Tashichhodzong.

After receiving dakyen, the prime minister and the Cabinet ministers had a photo session at the dzong courtyard after which they went to receive blessing of His Holiness the Je Khenpo.

The new cabinet include Udzorong representative Norbu Wangchuk as the economic affairs minister, Dewathang-Gomdar representative Mingbo Dukpa as the education minister and Shompangkha representative Rinzin Dorji as the foreign affairs minister.

Similarly, Damcho Dorji of Goenkhatoe- Laya as the home minister, Namgay Dorji of Drakteng -Langthel as the finance minister, Dorji Choden of Thrimshing- Kangpara as the works and human settlement minister, Athang- Thoedtso representative Tandin Wangchuk as the health minister, Menbi- Tsenkhar representative Yeshi Dorji as the agriculture minister, Lhamoizingkha representative Ngeema Sangay Chenpo as the labour minister and Pugli- Samtse representative DN Dhungyel was communications minister.

The cabinet show first female minister and minister from the Bahun community in Bhutan.

The cabinet has four ministers from the east, three from south, one is from central and two are from west.
