PDP government scraps Pedestrian Day
The first meeting of the newly formed cabinet of the PDP government has decided to scrap the much-criticised Pedestrian Day.
The cabinet meeting on Friday resolved to issue executive order to do away with the day, which had received unprecedented criticism from the public, especially from the businessmen.
The decision came just two days ahead of the country observing the day on Sunday. Initially introduced for every week, the former government later decided to observe the day on first Sunday of every month.
Businessmen accuse the rule has affected their trading.
The PDP, during the election campaign, had promised to scrap the rule if it win the election to form new government.
