Tashi Air to begin international service
Bhutan’s first privately owned airline Tashi Air, operating as Bhutan Airlines, has announced the launch of a new daily international flight service between Paro and Bangkok.
The service will end the monopoly of the only national flag carrier Druk Air, allowing visitors a second choice of airline when visiting the mountain kingdom.
According to the schedule, the inaugural flight from Bangkok to Park will take place on 10 October 2013. Company’s Airbus 320 is currently based in Bangkok.
The company also plans to begin flights from Paro to Kolkata and Bagdogra in India in the coming months.
The airline will offer passengers the choice of economy and premium classes with a total of 150 seats. Fares will start from US$720 return in economy, or US$800 return in premium.

Currently, only Druk Air flies in the Bhutanese skies. The Tashi Air, which provided domestic air service for a short period in 2012 stopped the services due to huge losses.
Plans to expand its routes are in the works and the company is currently looking at Dhaka, Bangladesh, Singapore, Nepal, Dubai, and Hong Kong as future destinations.
To promote the launch of the new route, Tashi Air is offering travellers discounted fares, including 90 percent off for infants, 33 percent off for children and 30 percent off for students.
