JICA assures Bhutan of future assistance

The Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay has met with JICA vice president Toshiyuki Kuroyanagi, Vice President of JICA at the Gyalyong Tshogkhang on Monday, November 4.
PM Tobgay warmly welcomed Kuroyanagi and thanked him for coming all the way from Japan to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of JOCV program with Bhutan, a statement from cabinet secretary reads. Tobgay said that the anniversary provides Bhutan with an opportunity to celebrate the friendship between the two countries and to honour the dedicated services of JOCV volunteers in Bhutan.
PM Tobgay also informed Mr. Kuroyanagi that the first JOCV volunteer dispatched to Bhutan in 1988, Mr. Shinji Kitagawa would also be joining the celebration.
PM Tobgay expressed his appreciation to all the JOCV volunteers and said that JOCV’s significant contribution to the socio-economic development of Bhutan has been made in crucial areas of education, agriculture, health, IT, architecture, engineering and environment.
Kuroyanagi reassured JOCV’s enhanced support and assistance to Bhutan in the future.
