The Prime Minister Tobgay inaugurated the Clean Bhutan Project at the Tourism Council of Bhutan Thursday morning (6 February).

The Prime Minister also launched the Clean Bhutan Website dedicated to the 60th Birth Anniversary of Fourth King Jigme Singye Wangchuk.

Addressing the inauguration, PM Tobgay said the project was very important toward safeguarding the welfare of the nation and the people and said that the people’s support and participation in this project was very crucial.

The project is being organised by Clean Bhutan in collaboration with Tourism Council of Bhutan (TCB), Bhutan Trust Fund for Environmental Conservation (BTFEC), Road Safety and Transport Authority (RSTA) and Thimphu City Council (TCC).

The objective of the project is tackling waste at its source by “Advocating Behavioural Changes to Save Bhutan” from waste and by committing Bhutan as ‘Zero Waste by 2030’. Zero Waste for Bhutan will be to change the citizens’ opinion and to minimize waste by practicing the 5 Rs (Rethink, Reduce, Recycle, Reuse and Recover).
