Bhutan lost U-14 girls’ football to India

Bhutan lost to India by 0-9 in the AFC Girls Regional Championship for South and Central Asia in Colombo on Monday.

India’s Sirjana Tamang pumped in four goals as India’s junior (U-14) girls routed Bhutan at the Baddegana football training centre.

It took the 2013 champions 21 minutes to bulge the Bhutanese’s net for the first time before adding three more goals in the first half.

Sirjana came out all guns blazing in the second half as she struck in the 50th, 56th, 66th and 69th minute.

Striker Roja Devi opened the goal glut in the 21st minute and followed up with another in the 57th minute to help India secure a big win, the All India Football Federation said in a press release.

Midfielder Lifa Gama who score a brace in the first session, firing on target in the 25th and 35+1 minute, and Daya Devi (31st minute) also got on the scoresheet for the inaugural champions. At half-time India were leading 4-0.

After four rounds, only two teams, table toppers Nepal and India, are left vying for the silverware. After this loss, Bhutan has zero points while India ascends to second position with 9 points. Bhutan faces Sri Lanka on Tuesday.
