Thailand to support Bhutan on human resource development

Thailand has expressed readiness to continue cooperation in human resource development with Bhutan.

Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay held talk with Mr. Seehasak Puangketkeaw, Permanent Secretary of the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs on possible cooperation between Bhutan and Thailand.
Thailand expressed readiness and commitment to continue cooperation with Bhutan in various fields, especially the development of human resources.
Thailand further said it is ready to promote the relationship between the private and public sectors while Bhutan wishes to send its officials to study Thailand’s One Tambon One Product or OTOP Project this August.
Thailand has also asked Bhutan to consider allowing Thai tourists to get a visa on arrival at Bhutan Immigrant Checkpoints, to create a reciprocal relationship.
Currently, Thailand grants visas on arrival to Bhutanese people at International Airports in Thailand but Thai tourists have to obtain visa before traveling to Bhutan.
In recent weeks, Bhutan has announced to increase Thai tourists in the off-peak season by dropping down the fee they pay.
