Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s slip in his address to the joint parliament session in Thimphu, has became a brief trending in Twitter on Monday (16 June).

While trying to offer appreciation to the Royal family, Modi he said ‘Nepal’ in place of Bhutan.

Mr Modi, who made two-day long first foreign visit to Bhutan, said, “I want to begin with a tribute to the Nepal…Bhutan royal family that ensured democratic values and protected people’s rights…” Later, he said “Ladakh” instead of Bhutan.

The faux pas did not go unnoticed on social media, where hash-tags like #Bhutan #Nepal and #TravelTipstoModi started trending. Interestingly, none of the Bhutanese Twitter users find this slip and interesting one.
