Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay has ordered to observe the pedestrian day on Thursday (5 June), a notice issued by Home Ministry reads.

“The Pedestrian Day will be observed on Thursday, 5th June, 2014, in the same manner as in the past coinciding with World Environment Day every year,” the notice reads.

Togay government had scrapped the controversial pedestrian day shortly after taking over the oath last year. The business community had opposed the idea of weekly pedestrian day introduced by former government saying it hampered their businesses.
