Cultural event in Adelaide marks festivals

A massive cultural event was organised in Adelaide, South Australia, on Saturday (18 October) to celebrate Dashain and Tihar festival together in public. The cultural event, with poem recitations, also marked the birth anniversary of the great Nepali poet Laxmi Prasad Devkota.

Organised by Bhutanese Ethnic School, Adelaide, the event showcased cultural performances, poems recitations, songs and speeches by guests.

Guests like Minister for Multicultural Affairs Zoe Bettison and Mayor of the City of Salisbury Gillian Aldridge expressed happiness with the showcased of cultures by Bhutanese community and progressed they made in the last seven years of settlement in South Australia.

Most of the performances and poem recitation were by students of the Bhutanese Ethic School. The event was attended by over 500 Bhutanese community members and wider Australians – young and old.
