Fire damages huts in Bel I

At least 11 huts have been damaged by fire in Beldangi I refugee camp in eastern Nepal on Wednesday (31 January).
The fire burnt down five huts completely while other six huts were dismantled to avoid fire from expanding further. The fire started at Sector D/1 Hut No 61-62 owned by Nandalal Gurung. According to reports, there were no one in Gurung’s house when fire started.
Fire damaged most of the luggage neighbour Kancha Rai made ready for his flight to United States.
Fire has been brought under control by refugees, police personnels and fire engine that came from Damak. New temporary huts have been built and the family of dismantled huts have been shifted there.
Lutheran World Federation (LWF) and World Food Program (WFP) have announced they would supply clothes, utensils and food items to the displaced family, at the earliest possible.
