PM Tobgay invites Banerjee to Bhutan

Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay has invited Chief Minister of the West Bengal State in India Mamata Banerjee for a state visit Bhutan
Consul-General of Bhutan in Kolkata Karma Tsering Namgyal personally handed over the invitation from PM Tobgay to the chief minister.
Banerjee’s office has not responded yet. It is said, the date for visit will be set based on convenience of both the countries.
Bhutan is likely to invite West Bengal to invest in agriculture and industries whatever is viable in Bhutan.
Apart from West Bengal, Bhutan was in talks with Assam and Odisha governments.
A 19-member delegation of Bengal Chamber of Commerce had visited Bhutan earlier this month to explore investment opportunities there.
An MOU was signed on behalf of the chamber with Bhutan Chamber to promote bilateral business between eastern India and Bhutan.
