Refugee Day in camps to remember earthquake victims

Bhutanese refugees in Beldangi camp, Jhapa Nepal dedicated this year’s Refugee Day to the victims of the Nepal’s earthquake victims.

On Saturday, refugees and representatives of the aid agencies, such as UNHCR, LWF, TPO etc came together to offer prayers to the deceased and injured Nepalese during the recent earthquakes.

On the occasion, a skit depicting the hardships of refugee life was staged. The skit was directed by Khaothang Subba, coordinator of Youth Friendly Centre (YFC).

Before converging into a gathering, refugees organised rally that went through different places around the camp.

On the side of the public function, over five thousands refugees, whose registration hasn’t been completed, also staged sit-in demonstrations.

Some of the speakers stressed the need for opening up repatriation option for those willing to go back to Bhutan.
