Pema Choden is new envoy to Europe

The first female diplomat of Bhutan Pema Choden has been appointed as new Bhutanese ambassador Belgium with concurrent accreditation to the European Union, Austria, Denmark, Finland, the Netherlands, Spain and Sweden effective April 2016.

She completed her tenure as envoy to Bangladesh in March and paid farewell visit to president, prime minister, foreign minister and other top political and diplomatic leaders of the country, statement from Bhutanese embassy in Dhaka said.

‘The Bangladeshi leaders thank the envoy for her positive contribution in strengthening the friendly relations between the two countries which have been reflected by the exchange of many successful high level visit in the last two years,’ the statement reads.

Choden was appointed ambassador to Bangladesh in April 2014 with concurrent accreditation to Sri Lanka, Maldives, Pakistan and South Korea.
