BAASA gets new executive

New executive committee of the Bhutanese Australian Association of South Australia (BAASA) has been election at the Annual General Meeting of the association held on 17 December.

Social worker Sushil Niroula has been election unopposed chairperson of the association for the next two-year term.

Other members of the executive committee include Lal Rai vice chairperson, Puskar Sharma Poudyal General Secretary, Tara Gautam Treasurer and Sita Dulal Public Officer.

The new executives were sworn in on the same day.

Niroula thanked outgoing Chairperson Kamal Dahal for his service to community and expressed hope to get continued community support in delivering services.

Following the election, the election committee comprising Kul Rai, Dhanrup Biswa, Ganga Adhikari and Jyotshna Karki was formally dissolved.

BAASA, established in 2009, has seen five executives committees. South Australia has the largest Bhutanese population in Australia.
