Bhutan rattled by earthquake
The 5.2 on Ritcher scale earthquake rattled Bhutan and northeast India on Saturday morning. The movement was felt at 07:14 am local time.
The earthquake is expected to have a low humanitarian impact based on the magnitude and affected population and their vulnerability. However, so far no reports of any casualty or injury have been reported.
The earthquake originated at 10 km depth in Gauripur in Assam. Its epicentre is located at latitude 26.19°N and longitude 89.93°E.
The region is extremely susceptible to seismic activity. Bhutan and Northeast India are mountainous Himalayan regions, so they are more susceptible of being affected by frequent earthquakes.
