NA elections announced for September-October

Bhutan is scheduled to hold its third National Assembly elections in September and October, the Election Commission of Bhutan has informally announced.

Chief Election Commissioner Chogyal Dago Rigdzin announced the primary election date for September 15 and second round of election for October 18, in a television interview on Friday.

However, the formal announcement has not come yet from the royal palace. According to the election act Article 201a, the election date of National Assembly shall be a date not later than thirtieth day after the issue of notification.

All registered parties take part in the primary round but only two highest votes receiving parties take party in the second round. The parties contesting in the second round represent in National Assembly.
