South tells parties – resolve citizenship issue

It’s slow but steady – the people in southern districts are taking their issue with their representatives. Many of then deprived of their citizenship on allegations of being relatives of those in exile.

The issue of citizenship has become the primary agenda for political parties for this election. All parties have more openly than ever before have expressed their willingness to address this issue. However, as they get their final numbers of representation, they will eventually take a different note saying constitution has vested citizenship authority to the king.

The party leaders have made all efforts to woo the voters. More leaders have now campaigned in Nepali language.

DPT has bad image in south whereas PDP did not build well in the last five years. DNT is likely to take larger votes in south but its weaker position in other parts of the country means the party has tough time to get to the next round.

The results of the election are likely to be out by Sunday midnight Bhutan time.
