King and PM return to Thimphu
King Jigme Khesar and Prime Minister Dr Lotay Tshering returned to Thimphu on Friday from their week-long tour to Samtse (Samchi) and Phuentsholing. The due were on tour to inspect the measures in place to control the influx of COVID19 cases from India.
Bhutan has tightened border with India due to fear to importing coronavirus from India where it is growing at exponential rate.
While on tour, they visited temporary accommodation arranged from Bhutanese, who otherwise were living other side of the border in Jaigaon. These Bhutanese were asked to enter and living those temporary accommodation before the borders were closed.
The accommodation constructed at the Amochu Land Development and Township Project area by Royal Bhutan Army can accommodate approximately 1000 families. The King and the PM also inspected the border in Phuetshoing and DeSuung (militia) training camps in Samtse (Samchi).
