Dechen Ugye wins Amateur Golf Championship in Nepal
Dechen Ugyen of Bhutan carded even-par 72 to register four-stroke victory after the third and final round of the fourth CMS Nepal Open Amateur Golf Championship here at the Gokarna Golf Club on Wednesday (26 March).
Ugyen, who was three strokes ahead going into the final round, won the title with the total score of one-under 215. Puwit Anupansuebsai of Thailand finished second at 219 after a round of 72, while his teammate Ekkarat Leksuwan (74) was third on count back after he was tied with Sajib Ali (76) of Bangladesh at six-over 222.
Ugyen carded two-under 34 on the front nine with the help of an eagle on the third hole and birdie on the sixth. He dropped a shot on the eighth. In the latter half, Ugyen played relatively quiet round saving pars on eight holes, while he dropped two shots on the 12th.
Nepal’s Sanjeev CK and Tashi Ghale and Dallas Reid of Hong Kong claimed top three spots respectively in the nett section. All the three golfers were tied on 221 after three rounds and the count back came into play to separate the trio.
