Himalayan festival concludes, Prakriti Rai is Miss Bhutan US

The mega event Himalayan Festival USA, the first of its kind, has concluded its 3-day long festivity with grand success.

The event saw competition in a variety of activities, including and much talked about, the first beauty pageant among the exiled Bhutanese community.

Prakriti Rai has lifted the crown of first Miss Bhutan US 2014 along with Miss Personality Title. Sita Bhujel became Miss Bhutan US first runner up and Dawazam Magar came second runner up. Bhujel also was crowned Miss Popularity. Nira Acharya won the Miss Bhutan US Best Smile crown.

In soccer tournament, Karen D9D Soccer Club lifted the winner’s cup beating Idaho-Utah Soccer Team.

Similarly, Manita Gurung from Rochester, New York won the Himalayan Dancing Icon Title while Leena Rai from Phoenix, Arizona came Second.

Rupesh Rai from Nashville, Tennesse won Himalayan Singing Icon title and Bijay Lamgade from Salt Lake City, Utah became second.

Bhutanese Creative Connection of Dallas/Fort Worth Texas won the best short movie compettiion.

Madan Pathak, Biplav Pratik, Prem Raja Mahat, Nalina Chitrakar, Sumit Sigdel, Deepak Gazmer and Jagdish Samal were on the Jury for these competitions.

Bhutanese and Nepalese singing starts such as Talman Thapa Magar, Jiwan Gurung, Shiva Mapchan, D. B. Baraily, Jagdish Samal, Nalina Chitrakar, Prem Raja Mahat, Shanti Bhandari and Rajesh Payal Rai made the event more entertaining and memorable. It was the first time such a big number of Bhutanese and Nepalese artists came together for an entertainment event in the US.
