Tobgay continues parleys in Japan

Tobgay with Japanese Crown Prince

Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay, who is on a official visit to Japan at the invitation of the Government of Japan, met Japanese Crown Prince Naruhito and greetings and letter sent by King Jigme Khesar and the royal family of Bhutan to Japanese Emperor.

PM Tobgay had also met with Mr. Akira Amari, Minister for Economic Revitalization, Mr. Yoshimasa Hayashi, Minister for Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries and Mr. Seiji Kihara, ParliamentaryVice Minister, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and discussed various areas of cooperation.

He held talks with President of Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO) and executives of various companies to explore trade and investment opportunities between the two countries.

He also visited the Nissan motor showroom to look at various electric vehicles manufactured by the company.

Earlier, he held bilateral talks with Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on wide ranging issues. Tobgay requested for Japan’s continued support to agriculture, including farm mechanisation, and for infrastructure development. He sought Japan’s support to set up the infrastructure for electric vehicles, including charging stations.

Prime Minister Abe assured Tobgay of Japan’s continued support to Bhutan’s socio-economic development needs.
