First Puran in NH, USA begins
The Bhutanese community in Concord, New Hempshire, have begun a seven day Hindu rituals (Srimad Bhagavata Maha Puran) on Thursday.
Bhutanese from New Hampshire and as far away as Pennsylvania have come to join the Puran and pray for peace around the world, enlightenment in their own hearts and brotherhood in their community. Bhutanese from across New England are expected to attend over the weekend.
Though it is organised by Bhutanese, the event is designed to bring New Hampshire’s Hindu community – from India, Nepal and elsewhere – together to worship and bond.
Anyone can attend to listen to the traditional music and watch the dancing that interrupts the chanting and preaching throughout the day. Above all, we feel that our culture that we come with, it does not belong just solely with us anymore,” said Bhagirath Khatiwada, one of the organisers.
