Bhutan king to visit Nepal

Bhutanese king is set to visit Nepal after 27 years, if the plan for SAARC summit goes as per plan, this month. The last time Bhutanese king visited Nepal was in 1987 when King Jigme Singye Wangchuk attended the third SAARC summit held in Kathmandu.

Bhutanese King Jigme Khesar Namgyal Wangchuk is scheduled to travel to Lumbini in Nepal when some of the SAARC leaders visit the birthplace of Buddha after the summit. Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also travel to Lumbini. Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay would also join the troupe.

Lumbini Area Development Trust is beautifying Lumbini as the Nepal’s state-guests expressed their willingness to visit the much revered site.

The three SAARC dignitaries will fly to Lumbini in a special chopper, informed Saroj Bhattarai, a senior engineer of the Trust. They will visit the Mayadevi temple, the temple named after Lord Buddha’s mother, as well as the other sites within Lord Buddha’ birth place.
