Seven years of settlement in Australia

Bhutanese in South Australia celebrated the seventh settlement day with multicultural performances on Saturday.

The settlement day is celebrated to mark the arrival of first Bhutanese family in Australia for settlement (13 May 2008).

This year’s settlement day performances drew multicultural activities – Kirati, Dzongkha, English and Hindi. The bele dance by Turning Point dance school was the attraction of the event.

Addressing the event, Multicultural Affairs Minister Zoe Bettison said she is fascinated by the unity, culture and progress made by Bhutanese community in South Australia.

Liberal member for South Australian Legislative Council John Dawkins, Mayor of Salisbury City Council Gillian Aldridge, SA police officials and invitees from other non-profit organisations graced the settlement day.

Donation collections for Nepal quake victims and raffle were the other attraction of the event.
