PM’s India visit scheduled for next week
Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay is scheduled to visit India next week, on his first foreign visit since taking over the charge of head of the government.
The detail agenda for the visit has not been published but one of them would be to seek Nu 5 billion grant from Indian government to inject into Bhutanese economy and ease liquidity crunch.
On his congratulation messages shortly after winning election last month, Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had invited Tobgay to visit India at the earliest possible. Tobgay had accepted the invitation.
It is traditional practice to visit India at least twice a year by prime minister and king.
Though the delegation members and length of visit has not been made public, Foreign Minister Rinzin Dorji is likely to be part of the delegation.
