Bhutanese music artists in US get organised
The Bhutanese music artists in United States finally decided they should have their own organisation to look after their welfare, advocacy and career development.
The recent gathering of the artists in Cincinnati, Ohio, culminated into formation of Bhutanese American Music Association (BAMA). The new association is headed by Bikash Thulung. Other executives of the association include Khem Rizal as vice chairperson, Lamin Tamang as secretary, Naresh Gautam as assistant secretary and Tika Lamichane as treasurer.
Amber Subba and Damber Khapung are named members of the executive committee. They also named Pratap Subba, Amal Thulung, Talman Magar, Shiva Chamlagai and Bhim Gurung as their advisors.
There have been many young talents entering into the music industry after settlement, at their individual capacity. An organised and concerted efforts to preserve and promote the Bhutanese-Nepali music was a lack. New association is expected to address those need.
