PM Tshering in Dhaka

Prime Minister Dr Lotay Tshering reached to Dhaka today for a four-day official visit to Bangladesh. He was welcomed by Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at Hazrat Shahjalal Int’l Airport.

It is the second international travel for Tsheting since he took over the reign of prime ministership last year.

Tshering is visiting Dhaka, at the invitation of Hasina, to bolster cooperation between the two countries in the: trade, inland waterways, health, and agriculture sectors.

Later Tshering paid tribute to the Liberation War martyrs at the National Martyrs’ Memorial in Savar and to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by placing wreaths at his portrait at Bangabandhu Memorial Museum in Dhanmondi.

Tshering is scheduled to have meeting with Bangladeshi Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen, leaders of Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industries (FBCCI) on the first day. On Saturday, the Tshering will attend a bilateral meeting with his Bangladeshi counterpart at the Hasina’s office.

During the visit, the two countries are likely to sign agreements on inland waterways for cargo transportation, in the health and agriculture sectors, and between the Public Administration Training Centers of the two countries — so that there is an exchange of faculty members as well as training and capacity-building.

He is scheduled to have breakfast with Bhutanese students and citizens living in Bangladesh before leaving Dhaka in the morning of April 15.
