TBJ second issue published

The second issue of The Bhutan Journal (TBJ), published by Bhutan Watch (BW), has been unveiled amidst an online event held on Saturday, January 16. The BW started publishing the research-based annual journal in 2020.

Speaking at the event, BW coordinator Ram Karki said the journal intends to bridge the divide in Bhutan and the Bhutanese diaspora and contributes towards strengthening Bhutanese democracy.

London based prominent journalist Bhagirath Yogi, formerly associated with BBC, Nepalese journalist Gopal Gartoula and Siliguri (India) based Hindustan Times journalist Pramod Giri highlighted the importance of such an intellectual discussion forum within the Bhutanese community – in Bhutan and in Diaspora. The journal reviewers also pointed out the drawbacks and improvements required for the journal in upcoming editions.

Journal’s advisor Dr DNS Dhakal said TBJ is the need of the hour for connecting Bhutan and Bhutanese diaspora while journal editor Dr Govinda Rizal welcomed feedback and comments from the reviewer assuring their feedbacks will be addressed in the upcoming editions of the journal.

TBJ second issue includes seven research articles and an interview with Prof Dr Michael Hutt (retired from Oxford University). The articles cover wide areas such as security, democracy, human rights, politics, resettlement and culture.TBJ can be read online here
