Communication minister asked to resolve ‘census issue’

The Minister for Information and Communication D. N. Dhungyel faced tough challenges from people on Saturday during the Meet-the-Programme.

That had never been the subject of discussion with such formal discussion in Bhutan for last 25 years. People poured in with cases of citizenship denial and land transfer.

The minister could answer nothing rather gave assurances to look into the matter. Hopefully, the grievance will be locked into the cupboard shelf in his office.

The encounter comes a week after people in Samtse (Samchi) interrogated their National Council member Sangay Khandu why was ‘census issue’ not discussed in the first session of the current parliament.

On Saturday, the minister has assured people coming the citizenship issue to look into matter and respond in a week’s time. Lets see if ‘any form of impartial government’ has been formed in Bhutan.
