Bhutanese boy in Sydney nominated for talent award

HSC students Tika Khatiwada from Sydney, Australia has been included in a list of 17 students chosen for the regional Vocational Education Training Student of the Year Award in Blacktown scheduled for November 19.

Khatiwada is a construction student from Evans High School was nominated by his potential employer.

Business trainer Florian Ayen from Instyle Carpentry was quoted by local media that Tika was an outstanding student and did everything asked of him to an excellent standard.

Tika described his chance of winning the top student award as ‘‘good’’.‘‘I always wanted to be a carpenter,’’ he said.

‘‘I am also taking a business management course to prepare me to run my own company.’’

The Award for Excellence is organised by Blacktown Regional Economic & Employment Development, which is now called BREED.

The winner of the award will be picked as the VET Student of the Year Award at the annual awards dinner at Blacktown Council Civic Centre. The award is given annually.
