Royal couple expected to visit India in January
King Jigme Khesar Namgyal Wangchuk and Queen Jetsum Pema are expected to make another royal visit to India in January.
The couple had made state visit to India in January this year as special guest of the republic day celebration. It is a tradition for Bhutanese royal couples to make India visit every year, though King Jigme Singye did not follow this tradition in his last years of reign.
The detailed itinerary has not been released from the royal palace but it is expected that he will meet presidents, prime minister and other senior leaders of the Indian political circle.
This is the first royal visit India since the new government came in power after the general elections in July this year.
The couple will be staying at the newly decorated and refurbished guest wing of the India’s Ratrapati Bhavan. The couple will be first residential guest of the redecorated wing that has 14 suits.
