Bhutanese artist to have solo art exhibition in Tasmania

A Bhutanese artists based in Hobart, Tasmania, will have his art works being displayed at the Welcome Wall of the ARTrium Gallary in Launceston General Hospital this month.

According to information received, the artist Issac Rai has been offered an opportunity to exhibit his eight paintings in the gallery. The paintings will be hung on wall by mid of this month.

Rai will be the first refugee artists arrived and settled in Tasmania whose arts would be displayed in the gallery.

The theme of the paintings would be centred on his homeland Bhutan, life in the refugee camp in Nepal and his new home in Hobart, Tasmania. This will give the viewer a comprehensive understanding of his life in Bhutan, Nepal and now Tasmania.

The paintings will also have an artist statement, the description of each painting, the medium used and a price. The commission set on sales is 25 per cent which goes towards the development of the gallery.
