Tobgay in Australia; Australian-Bhutanese lobby for repatriation
Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay is starting his first four-day Australia tour on Monday. This is the first formal visit of the Bhutanese Prime Minister to Australia since the two countries established diplomatic relations in 2002.
Bhutanese living in Australia have requested the office of Australian Prime Minister and Foreign Minister to take this opportunity to put pressure on Bhutan to take back Bhutanese refugees who are still willing to be repatriated.
In a recent statement, Prime Minister Tobgay had resisted repatriating any refugees to their original homestead.
In a joint appeal, the Bhutanese resettled in Australia have said, ‘following the resettlement of the large chunk of the refugee population, we believe the international community has the obligation to put pressure on Bhutan to respect the right of the refugees to return. Bhutan must agree to take back the small number of refugees who are still hoping to get repatriated’.
They further said, ‘We the Bhutanese resettled in Australia request your good office to take this opportunity to put pressure on Bhutan to take back the small number of refugees who not only aspire but are determined to get repatriated’.
‘Australia must play role in making Bhutan realise that it must respect the right to return of its citizens. Else the democracy asserted by Bhutan can only be proved to be hypocrisy’.
‘Also, we keep hope that your office will engage in discussion with Bhutan to open doors for those Bhutanese resettled in Australia to travel to Bhutan and meet their relatives’.
Tobgay arrives Brisbane after completing this three-day tour to Thailand.
While in Australia, Tobgay is scheduled to address World Water Congress Tuesday in Brisbane, meet with Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull, Foreign Minister Julie Bishop, Speaker of the House of Representative Tony Smith and Trade and Investment Minister Steven Ciabo on Wednesday and Thursday in Canberra.
ON Friday, Tobgay will travel to Sydney and meet with Premier of New South Wales Mike Baird.
On his way back from Australia, PM Tobgay will travel to Goa, India to attend BRICS-BIMSTEC Outreach Summit.
The Government of Bhutan has to return his people who are still waiting for return back to their home land country. If any resettled in the different countries and continents willing to return,Bhutan Government has to return.Because,The Movement of 1990,in the name of human rights and democracy for the freedom from any racial and faces discrimination was started from the Palace of Thimphu, from the fourth king and his representatives who were working under the fourth King of Bhutan.Southern Bhutanese who were living in the southern kingdom of Bhutan, were all the farmers and illiterated people. The uneducated and uncivilized people were not demanding the human rights and democracy for the freedom of of their lives and they were not opposed to obtaining any political parties and political leaders to the open chests of our mother land Bhutan. The former leader Dasho Tek Nath Rizal and the fourth king of Bhutan, and rest other people were caused of the political issues started from the Capital of Thimphu. Why the TekNath Rizal was made out up from the country and sent him international country Nepal and again Tek Nath Rizal was arrested and again taken to the Bhutan by the Help of Government of Nepal. That was the main reasons of Bhutanese refugee who
Rizal was arrested from the Nepal and again taken to Bhutan ,that was the main reasons why Southern Nepali speaking people arose voices for the protection of life of Rizal, who worked for the people of Southern part of Bhutan. On 1990,there was the simple and formal Rally regarding the life of Rizal, because our former leader whose name was Mashur Chhetri was also arrested and thrown in the River Sunkosh of Bhutan, keeping him inside the Skin Poch .so people were illiterates and they were under developed, who were not known about the details meaning of human rights and democracy.
