Bhutan gets 8 goals in SAFF opening
Bhutan begins the 2014 SAFF Women’s Championship by loosing the first game to Nepal by a huge margin.
Bhutan lost the game to Nepal by 8-0 in their first match of the third SAFF Women’s Championship being held at the Jinnah Stadium in Islamabad of Pakistan, on Wednesday.
Sajana Rana, Anu Lama and Dipa Adhikari scored two goals each for Nepal whereas Munuka Giri and Sabita Bhandari added a goal each.
The last year’s runners-up dominated the match from the outset, taking an early lead in the 14th minute through Sanjana Rana’s goal.
Menuka Giri doubled the lead in the 21st minute, while captain Anu Lama struck two in the 36th and 40thth minute, while Sanjana concluded the first half with her second goal in the 45th minute as Nepal led 5-0 at the interval.
Dipa Adhikari scored two goals in 60th and 84th minute while Sabitra Bhandari scored in 89th minute.
Bhutan will face Sri Lanka on Friday and Pakistan on Sunday.
