King Khesar’s birthday celebrated in Canberra
The Bhutanese community members living in the Australian Capital territory have celebrated the birth anniversary of King Jigme Khesar Namgyal Wangchuk with cultural and dinner function. Speakers appreciated the leadership of King Khesar in steering the country into the democratic set up and political liberalisation.
The function organised by Australia Bhutan Association of Canberra had attracted over 500 individual from Bhutanese and Australian communities.
The Association was established with objectives to support Bhutanese students travelling to Australia for studies and job prospects and improve the Bhutan-Australia relations.
The association is consists of most Bhutanese students who have come and settled in Canberra for studies or permanently. In recent years Canberra has become the popular destinations for Bhutanese students coming directly from Bhutan for their higher studies.
