Bhutan queen mother in Nepal
The step mother of the King Jigme Khesar queen mother Dorji Wangmo Wangchuk arrived Nepal in an unofficial visit. She is expected to stay in Nepal for a week and visit Buddhist landmarks.
She visited Swayambhu shrine on her first destination since arriving in Kathmandu on Tuesday. She is likely to visit Lumbini and other Buddhist shrines.
This visit has remained more secret than the visit of other queen mother Sangay Choden Wangchuk who visited Nepal in March 2018 (see video below).
Queen mothers started visiting Buddhist shrines in Nepal, India and Thailand since Jigme Khesar was crowned the king of Bhutan. His mother Tshering Yangdon has rarely travelled out of country.
Queen Mother Dorji Wangmo Wangchuck was born in Thimphu June 10 in 1955 and was married to Jigme Singye in 1978.
